Proform Performance 400c Review

If you need to have a cheap unit at an affordable price, this is it but only will last if you use it for walking and baby it.

The Proform Performance 400c Treadmill is the cross-trainer version of the Performance 400. The motor is significantly weaker and it's slightly worse in almost every other category in the 400c, as compared to the 400, but they both charge $599.

The walking surface is a decent size. The belt on the treadmill measures in at 20" x 55". This is a good 5" shorter than the common 20" x 60" walking belt, but it's still big enough for individuals with long strides to feel relaxed using this treadmill.

As pointed out before, you can get a much better motor from the Performance 400, which costs the same as this one. You can reach speeds of up to 10 mph with this treadmill, but you'll wreck the structure and drive system if you use it for running.

One of the worst cushioning systems offered can be found on this treadmill. ProShox Cushioning is used to minimize the impact that strolling has on your joints and back. A couple 100 extra bucks can get you a running surface that will be significantly more forgiving or won't wear out as quickly.
The projected dependability of this piece of cardio equipment is poor, which is to be assumed at this cost. You really have to be careful on this unit if you want it to have a decent longevity. Even then, there's no guarantee. The quality of parts used is disappointing.

The manufacturer's warranty on the Proform Performance 400 c is bad. Parts and labor are dealt with for 1 year, the motor is covered for 25 years, and the frame is covered for life. When they don't have faith in their item, this is the kind of coverage a manufacturer offers.
